COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Course are to
familiarize the students with the emergence of political thought since the
medieval ages and the views of different political philosophers, both western
and Islamic and to link these teachings with the political systems prevalent today with special reference to Pakistan.
COURSE OUT LINE
A detailed and comprehensive study of the
ideas regarding origin of the State, beginning from Western Political
Thought, the Islamic Political Thought. Administration of the State in Islamic
Society and study and Emergence of Political System in Pakistanwith special reference to the present
setup of the Local Government.

Course Code GOS-505
Course Objectives:
This course will introduce you to the ways in which internet
technologies are affecting how people interact with government, and how
governments, in turn, are using and managing these technologies to (hopefully)
better provide information and services to the public. Course content is
divided into three main themes, and begins with an overview of development
techniques and assessment methods for public web sites and on-line
applications. We will then examine key policy issues relevant to implementation
of e-government programs, as well as to the broader use of information
technology in Pakistan. Finally, you will have a chance to explore the
skills and concepts needed to effectively manage e-government projects and
programs.

Module: Governance Its theories and
Practices
Course Code GOS-505
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course is designed to provide the students of Governance and
Public Policy an understanding of principles, policies and practices of
Governance at state level. It covers the basic concepts and theories of
governance, governance in public administration and public policy, the State
and economic development, models of economic governance, the judiciary and its
impact on governance, and theories of democratization. It also covers the role
of ethics in governance and how it should be institutionalized to play an
effective role in the improvement of standards of governance in a State.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
• Upon
the completion of the course, the students will be able to:-
– Comprehend
the core issues and concepts of governance
– Understand
the importance of practices of good governance in running the affairs of the
state and apply the knowledge gained through this course in their practical and
professional life
– Raise the
standard of governance whenever and wherever they happen to serve Pakistan.
